A comprehensive literature search of a topic may require using master's theses and doctoral dissertations on the topic. The following are ways to locate dissertations through the Foley web site.
Gonzaga dissertations and theses
Foley Center has a complete collection of dissertations and theses written for the Ph.D., EdD and Masters of Nursing programs. There are also some theses from early masters programs in the School of Arts and Sciences. Gonzaga theses and dissertations can be found in the library catalog under author, title and subject. There are usually two copies of each thesis, a circulating bound paper copy located in thegeneral collectionand a non-circulating microform copy located in Special Collections.
Access to Gonzaga theses and dissertations are also available through the UMI Current Research@Gonzaga website. At this website you can search by author, title and keyword all Gonzaga theses and dissertations in the UMI database. Abstracts are available and full text PDF files are available for publications written after 1996. At the website you can also order paper or fiche copies of the dissertations and charge them to your credit card.

Dissertations and theses from other schools
Dissertation Abstracts Online -- Direct access to the complete Dissertation Abstracts database, with citations dating back to 1861 and abstracts included from 1980 to the present. On the search screen, select appropriate database in the "Jump to Advance Search" box.
UMI ProQuest Digital Dissertations-- Search for dissertations back to the previous calendar year, many with free downloadable 24-page excerpts.
Dissertation Express -- Order dissertations from ProQuest
Databases such as PsycLit and Sociological Abstracts may also refer to citations in DAI. At the main UMI Current Research website you can also choose a particular school and search their dissertations by author, title or keyword. Abstracts are provided as well as the first 24 pages of dissertations published from 2000-2001. It is also possible to order the dissertation from UMI at the website.
If you need to borrow a copy of a specific dissertation, place a request for an Interlibrary Loan through ILLiad. Once you are logged in, fill out the Thesis/Dissertation Request form. Please be aware that dissertations can be difficult to locate and some schools do not lend their dissertations at all. The ILL staff will contact you if there is a problem getting a dissertation through Interlibrary Loan and inform you if there are purchase options.
